But recently, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have been bringing the saxophone back, in The Edge of Glory and Last Friday Night, respectively.  And I have to say, I kinda love it.

It has been raining here for the past couple of days, and I miss the sunshine.  But yesterday was my birthday, so I have to say it’s been a great week so far.  I ordered the new iphone, which is a huge step for me.  I really love my blackberry, but I feel like my blackberry lacks a certain cutting edge, and I’m being left behind electronically.  It won’t be here for another week, so I’m going to spend some quality time between now and then with my little bb that has been with me through so much. Sniff, sigh.  If I don’t like the iphone I’m going to take it back for the droid.  Life is full of so many difficult decisions.

Have you seen the television show Happy Endings?  I’m in love with it, I think it is hilarious and I want to be friends with the people on the show.  I also believe Community and Parks and Recreations have started the seasons off strong.    But, if you didn’t watch Awkward this summer, you seriously missed out.  Literally the best new television show I’ve seen in a long time.  PFM.  I love television.

As I sat there with my jaw on the floor, Bucket (who is Natalie’s lab, he thinks he is a lapdog.  I’ll have to post some pictures soon, he’s precious) jump up and licks my face, and, essentially, the inside of my mouth.  He saw a opportunity, and he went for it.  I mean, he literally tried to make out with me!  Briscoe was very upset and jumped on the couch to make her presence known, and I was literally at the bottom of a dog pile for a few seconds.  Gag. 

I’m sad MJ died.  But, at the same time, I can’t imagine him getting old.  It seems like Icons like Michael as suppose to have tragic endings.  I know that is a terrible thing to say, I don’t mean that they NEED to have tragic endings, but it just seems like they normally do, and it ends up being more surprising when they end up old than when they die fairly young.  I feel sure that drug abuse accounts for many tragic celebrity deaths, and I can’t say that it sounds like Michael’s was any different. 

Regardless, I’ve watched the video of Thriller a few times since late yesterday afternoon, and I can’t get the images out of my head.  The yellow eyes, the bloody mouths of the zombies, and their arms rotting off…I’m going to have nightmares. 

I had a hearing today in a case about $5,000 in stolen cds from a storage facility.  We represent the storage facility.  I hope I won. 

I tried to get a frosty this morning on my way back to work from the courthouse but you would not have believed the line at Wendy’s.  I guess the word has gotten out and everyone is trying to get their free frosty.  Maybe I’ll try again on my way home. 

Oh, an update on the palmetto bugs, I had the Orkin man come spray outside on wednesday, and this made the roaches mad, and they staged a siege against the house.  Natalie and I killed like eight in a ten minute period. 

As Natalie was picking up a victim of the chemical weapon Raid, she said, “Man, I hope none of the roaches try to carry the dogs off.” 

I said, “Did you read my blog today?  I just wrote about that!”

She hadn’t read the entry.  These roaches are just THAT SERIOUS.  But I saw a lot of dead ones scattered across the front and back yard and I’m hoping that it will get better.  If not the orkin man will have to come back.  It’s a war.

So, they’ve gotten kind of famous since the last time I mentioned them. 

And guess what?  They won an American County Music Award for best new group tonight!

I mean.  I’m so happy for them.  David taught me how to listen to the bass guitar through the noise of the band many many many years ago. 

And let me just go ahead and say this was a big night for Georgia, because right before Lady Antebellum won, Sugarland won single of the year for Stay.  Jennifer Nettles was a local legend in Athens when I was in high school and college.  At that time she was in a band called Soul Miners Daughter, and I still listen to their album Sacred and Profane. 

It makes me happy when people make it. 

So, just thought I would share a few things with y’all.  I recently purchased the Colbie Caillat CD, and I highly recommend it.  It is definitely girl music, but it is upbeat and soothing, sort of something you can tune out, but good lyrics too.  I like it. My favorites are Oxygen and Midnight Bottle. 

I also recently purchased the Luke Bryan CD – he is from Albany, Ga, and is fun.  He wrote Billy Currington’s song – Good Directions, and I think this is his first CD.  It makes me happy.  My favorite songs are We Rode in Trucks and You Make Me Want To.

The Pasty Quail – this is site run by a few law students at UGA.  Lots of interesting articles and outside links with blurbs.  I was thoroughly entertained. 

Walking to the Shops Damages the Planet More than Going by Car – I love this article.  Honestly – I’m all about the environment, I really am, but most people don’t even think through the real impact of their actions – and what might seem "good" is sometimes "bad", or, simply, "not good". 

Binge Drinking is Good For You – I just thought this article was hilarious.  I mean – it doesn’t have a real serious point, but it made me laugh.  I like columnists.  Especially British ones.

Oh, and speaking of substance abuse – if it ever comes down to it – please send me to this Rehab.  I feel at peace in the mountains.   

And last but not least – what I think of as the funniest SNL skit I’ve ever seen, starring Lindsey – who has been lucky enough to go to rehab at the Cirque Lodge –

And let’s say on this particular day Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake both happened to be in Miami, they run into each other at their exclusive hotels, and decide to hit the town together, because they are colleagues and friends.  They of course bring their body guards and entourage so the tabloids wouldn’t have them dating by the end of the weekend.  Nelly and Justin have sushi for dinner and discussed the latest Hollywood gossip, over sake bombs and crazy rolls. 

The convo would go something like this:

N:  So, who do you think Cami is going to take to the Shrek 3 premiere?

J:  Shut up Nelly.

N:  Haha, I think you should hid in the red carpet crowd and when she and her new flavor walk by you can rip your shirt off and start yelling about how you have better abs than that guy and how she is nothing without you.  That would be awesome. 

J:  Oh yeah?  Well, for that, I’m going to challenge you to a dance off.  I’m not going to listen to you disrespect me like this – after all – I’m the one who broke up with the She-Ogre, even if she has been looking extra awesome lately. 

N:  You are on!  I can dance you into the ground any day of the week JT!  Name the place and time!

J:  Right now!  Tonight, here in Miami.  Let’s go to the nearest club and have it out.

So there you are, dancing around with your $15 cosmo, when Nelly and Justin stroll into the club – stop at the bar and buy ten shots of tequila for themselves and the people sitting at the bar, hit the floor and start dancing. 

You see them at the club, and they’re acting real nice.  You see them on the floor, and you’re watching all night.   

Timbaland is going to be so mad he was in New York when this went down. 

I’m really jazzed about the new P!nk cd – I’m Not Dead.  It actually came out a while ago.  I’m slow. 

It is awesome.  Go buy it.  It isn’t what you would expect.  I was surprised. 

I’m less jazzed (how do you feel about the word jazzed?) I’m less jazzed about the new Patty Griffin cd.  I’m hoping it starts to grow on me. 

I love Akon.  For the record.  Akon and Eminem.  But the clean versions, not the explicit versions.  I can handle explicit Pink,  But not explicit Akon.  I do have some class.  Konvict + Up Front + Akon + Slim Shady= happiness. 

I am obsessesd with the new JoJo CD.  Seriously!  I love JoJo!  She is so awesome and has been helping me train for the half marathon.  Obviously you all already love Too Little Too Late – but you need the whole album.  My favorites are Anything and Let it Rain.  GAHHHH.  LOVE IT. 

I have been listening to Amos Lee’s new album – Supply and Demand.  I like Amos Lee a lot.  I was first introduced to his music by Betsy – who tried to make me listen to him for a long time before I finally stopped being stubborn and realized that he is awesome.  I prefer his more upbeat songs, but a couple of his slower songs are great as well.  Betsy really likes Southern Girl – which I also support.  I think my favorite song is Sympathize.  There are a couple of songs available on Myspace – HERE.

OHH, and my friends Charles and David have started a band called Lady Antebellum, and I was listening to their new music on myspace and I am impressed.  These boys are so talented and sweet and awesome, I’m really proud of them for chasing their dreams.  I don’t think they have an album out yet – but they have quite a few songs available on myspace.  They have my stamp of approval.    Go LISTEN.

The only other thing I’m worried about today is what kind of halloween cookies I want to make.  Sugar cookies of course, but what shape?  Punkins?  I’m thinking Punkins.  Dipped orange with green butter cream icing stems.  GAH.  Decisions are so tough, cause, ghosts can be so cute too.  Or should I make cupcakes?  Cookies are probably easier to transport.  Hmmmm…..
