Libby and I decided last night that we needed to start improving our lives little steps at a time. After thinking this over, I have a few new thoughts and goals for law school. Here they are:
1. If I have to carry my constitutional law book around, I should at least read it. This is the heaviest book I have ever possessed. The work involved in carrying the book from my locker to the library seems to me enough work for the class every day, but I would like to get something more out of this book than just a bad elbow. I think I can handle con law. I like history. I like law. This shouldn’t be as bad as I am making it. But I haven’t had a history class since my junior year of high school, so I am currently a little lost.
2. I am going to learn that I don’t need to listen to my Business Crimes teacher the first half of class, I need to listen to him the second half of class. The first half he talks about current events. By the time he starts talking about the material we read, I have already tuned out. I mean, the class doesn’t start until 4:30 in the afternoon, what can you do?
3. I am going to remember that my school work is my vocation currently. I can’t be happy unless I am useful, and right now the only way for me to be useful is for me to learn this stuff. Logically, the only way for me to be happy is for me to learn the stuff. I know that there is lots of satisfaction in learning, and I just need to keep that in mind.
4. For the most part, I have a great life. Other than showing up for class and reading a lot (which is one of my favorite things to do anyway), I have no real objectives for the next couple of months. This is a pretty sweet deal and one that I can’t justify complaining about. Plus, I got to spend the summer in Greece, which was worth a lot more than what is being asked of me currently. In addition, I live in a place where fall = football, and this makes me exceptionally happy.
5. I have got to cut down on my caffeine intake. There is very little else to be said about that.
6. As always, time management is a problem, and I need to get a grasp on being a productive individual. This is something that is probably not going to change anytime soon (which is why it is at the bottom of the list), but it is something that should always be on the list.
7. I am going to keep exercising, it is a source of endorphines that I am not able to sacrifice right now to anything, especially not school. On that note, I am going to go run with Cristina.
