If you are in college and want to go to law school, major in business. I know, I know, most people think you should major in political science or whatever, and having not majored in political science I guess I don’t really know what I’m talking about, but even so, I recommend majoring in business.

Majoring in business forced me to take classes that I didn’t enjoy much, and never would have taken if they weren’t requirements. And although I took these classes a long time ago, they still have an ENORMOUS impact on my understanding of every day problems in the legal world.

The legal world is laced with things like accounting, insurance, finance, real estate, and economics, and it has been invaluable in my limited experience to have an understanding of these issues.

I don’t think that the terry college of business necessarily taught me invaluable skills, but it at least introduced me to concepts and terms and ideas that are difficult to grasp, and it is nice to at least be vaguely familiar with a difficult concept when you run into it in the real world.

But then again, don’t listen to me, major in whatever makes you happy.  You can learn those terms later.

I finished my paper. It wasn’t long enough. I don’t think I have ever written a paper that was long enough. Honestly, my whole life is that I have never been able to to make my paper’s long enough. And yet I always have so much to say. I don’t understand.

But it is nice to be finished. But I wish it had been longer.

We went out to sushi last night. Sushi is something I don’t understand. Sake is also something I don’t understand. Most of the time I don’t think I want sushi at all. But I always enjoy it. And every once in a while I think that I might die and/or hurt someone if I can’t have some sushi immediately. But every time I know I am going to a sushi place, I always think about how much I do not want any sake. But every time I sit down at the sushi place, I start to cave. And as soon as I have one piece of sushi I hit my breaking point. I have to have some sake. I don’t even like it. I know I don’t. But I really want it and love it. I enjoy it. It is the strangest thing.

The new sushi place in Augusta is called Takosushi. It is sushi and Mexican food. The sushi chef used to be at Twist in Atlanta, which is one of my favorite restaurants of all times. His name is Sammy and we are big friends. I took a shot of sake with a quail egg in it on Saturday night with Jennifer. I’ve decided to be open to new experiences these days. But eggs aren’t really my thing, so I don’t think that is an experience I am going to do again.

It is so weird to be finished. I start work on Monday. I hope I can be useful. Love y’all.

OMG, the finals signs are up in the library. The huge STOP signs on the door of the law library, indicating that you can’t come in unless you are a law student (while simultaneously indicating that you can’t come out if you are a law student) were put up today. This makes me crazy. This semester has really gotten out of control. WHERE DID IT GO???? Last night I had my first panic of realization that I will NEVER be prepared for my exams. Guess what I am doing tomorrow? Going to New Orleans. This is intelligent. Frank is getting married! Craziness. I am going to fail out of school. Everyone – including me – is freaking out about point allocations for classes next semester. One more situation in which if I would stop and breath I would realize that it doesn’t really matter. Last year I didn’t even turn in a point allocation and I got ALL the classes I wanted to take. We all just need to get a grip on life. I sat out for PMBR today, and we gave away krispy kreme doughnuts. The smell killed me. I feel like I smell like doughnuts. And I can smell myself. Which is making me sick. Fun

For pictures of last night’s talent show, complements of Megan. I love the dinosaur cartoons. Whatcha think? Favorite quotes of last night: "Can I get a picture with you in your dress?" (I felt like I was a character at disney world) and "Wow, that dress is crazy. She is so skinny – but the dress….. Imagine what it would look like if she was fat. The 80’s were not a kind decade." (obviously not said to me directly). and my favorite: "You actually pull that dress off very well. Somehow, it suits you." See old Comments | See old Trackbacks

Law Revue

Tonight at the 40 Watt, is the annual law school talent show. I expect everyone who lives within 50 miles of athens to be there. Doors open at 7, and the show starts at 8. The professors have something planned as well I believe. I will be hosting this exciting event along with my classmates Christy Sanders and Kipp Knight. It is going to be a riot. I can’t promise to be that entertaining myself, but I think it will be a lot of fun. Please come, we have some really awesome costumes. Really awesome. Hot. See old Comments | See old Trackbacks

The annex

I’m being super productive and useful and I apologize for the lack of posts, I have been experiencing technical difficulties in the form of everything I touch breaks and can’t get out of bed in the morning.

But for the next couple of days I plan on eating right, getting work done in the library, going to class, and working out. And I promise I will start posting again soon.

George has officially bit the dust. They say not to name things because then you become attached and then they die. Well, no more naming of the laptop. I am getting a new one (it is being ordered) and until then I am holding my dad’s laptop ransom.

Spring break was awesome, and I will have more to say about that later, but right now I need to go try to get a handle on this whole heresay rule of evidence. So I’m going to watch a lot of law and order. Be good.

I miss you

I’m sorry for the lack of posting. George is still sick and without a laptop, I am limited to my time on the internet. But I miss posting, because I love writing here. I hope everyone is having a spectacular week. In addition to not having much to say this week, next week is spring break, so we will see.

But I am going to Augusta on thursday for Mary Beth’s birthday!! And hopefully will be able to get George fixed on Friday. I really appreciate all the comments, comments mean a lot to me.

Updates on my life:
1. I am still praying for it to warm up.

2. I sprained my ankle walking at the botanical gardens on Sunday. I was walking briskly, trying to keep up with Molly and Ashley. But it is feeling better.

3. My awesome brother Travers came into town last Friday, as did my favorite friend Betsy, and we had a lot of fun.

4. I am getting really excited about the Masters. Less than a month, less than a month. I can’t wait, and I guess it is good that it has been cold because otherwise the flowers would be screwed up. It is so funny, this time of year, the Masters is all my friends from home and I can talk about it. Can’t breath, can’t breath, so excited.

5. I am unhappy with my hair and can’t decide if I should cut it before the Masters. I think I am going to, but I am frustrated.

6. Law school Prom was tons of fun. I had a blast. I felt pretty, and I felt like everyone else was beautiful. I love it when everyone gets all dressed up, the girl in me takes over. Overall, it was a success. Highlight of the night: my fur jacket. Lowpoint of night: Caleb stealing the bottle of crown for the bus ride home and Jay smoking the cigar in the bus.

I wish I had more right now, but I don’t. I love you all.

The bum wandering around the annex, asking everyone how to get out of the library. It took someone downstairs about fifteen minutes to explain to him that he couldn’t go out the door downstairs because it was locked and only for emergencies, and that he needed to upstairs. But somehow or another he ended up on the third floor, and still couldn’t find his way out. From what I overheard, he was under the impression that you couldn’t walk over the bridge. Which leads me to wonder how he ended up in the annex at all.

I am so please

I just joined a new group on thefacebook. O.C.G.A. 16-6-11, which is the exact location in the Georgia Code where you find the statute on Pimping.

According to Lexis:

§ 16-6-11. Pimping
A person commits the offense of pimping when he or she performs any of the following acts: (1) Offers or agrees to procure a prostitute for another; (2) Offers or agrees to arrange a meeting of persons for the purpose of prostitution; (3) Directs or transports another person to a place when he or she knows or should know that the direction or transportation is for the purpose of prostitution; (4) Receives money or other thing of value from a prostitute, without lawful consideration, knowing it was earned in whole or in part from prostitution; or (5) Aids or abets, counsels, or commands another in the commission of prostitution or aids or assists in prostitution where the proceeds or profits derived there from are to be divided on a pro rata basis.

Maybe not everyone thinks this is as funny as I do. I don’t think prostitution is funny in real life, I am just impressed by Steven and Todd, who apparently started the group, because having such a group is hilarious. Maybe I’m just a nerd.

Natural Resources

I love my natural resources class, I just wish we could have class outside, because it is so pretty. But instead we are in a windowless room in the basement of the law school. We are talking about the gray wolf.

I parked my car on the top of the deck this morning because she wanted to lay out in the sun. The foggy, rainy weather has been affecting her mood, and she was excited that it was pretty this morning.

Easter candy available at a store near you. I love Cadbury Mini Eggs. This is fun.

Easter is not the Sunday of the Masters this year like it was last year. I’m a little worried about the flowers in Augusta, if the weather stays warm from now until then, all the flowers are going to bloom too early and Augusta won’t be as pretty as it should be for when the world comes to visit. Of course the flowers on the course will be beautiful, because the people at the National know how to make the flowers bloom at the right time. But I want to see the whole town in bloom, and if it doesn’t bloom the week of the Masters, I will miss it because I will be in Athens.

I have on flip flops today. Which is really awesome. But you know how when you haven’t worn your rainbows for a while, or any other leather flip flops, how they aren’t as comfortable as they were the last time you wore then and it takes a little while to break them back in? This is what I am experiencing this morning. A small price to pay for getting to wear flip flops in February.

My evidence class this morning was out of control. Carlson dressed up like a strip club owner, with a huge wig, and his shirt unbuttoned with gold chains and heroin streaks down his arm. It was sweet. I love that class.

We had medical malpractice last night, and I think that is going to be a great class. I just hope I didn’t talk too much yesterday – if you are in that class, I apologize, I get bored if I can’t talk to someone, and the teacher works just as well as the guy sitting next to me.

Go outside! Smell the Japanese Magnolias if you live in the South!!!
