The locals of Bolotnikovo, Russia are a little upset. The villagers awoke this morning to discover that the lake on which the village is located disappeared overnight, leaving a giant mud hole. The fishermen of the area are obviously concerned. The village is located in the Nizhegorodskaya region, on the Volga river east of Moscow.
Officials say that the lake might have been sucked into an underground cave system and that a human could not have survived if caught in the catastrophe. When the lake disappeared it took surrounding trees underground with it.
But not everyone in the village buys this underground cave theory.
"I am thinking, well, America has finally got to us," said one old woman, as she sat on the ground outside her house.
